University Technical College Partnership

CNet Training is proud to partner with Activate Learning Education Trust University Technical Colleges to deliver the Digital Futures Programme.

CNet Training is a founding partner of the Digital Futures Programme, first delivered at UTC Heathrow, the inaugural University Technical College dedicated to the data centre sector. Activate Learning Education Trust (ALET) and industry partners have collaborated to help shape and deliver the curriculum for 14-18 year olds to prepare them for a future career within the data centre sector.

Developed alongside leading industry organisations, the Digital Futures Programme allows students to gain the essential knowledge and skills needed to thrive in technical careers within the data centre sector. This sector is currently experiencing unprecedented growth, which is only set to continue, but is facing an ongoing skills shortage. This new programme will help to future-proof the industry by inspiring a new generation to join it and enjoy a rewarding career.

The programme curriculum is designed in close collaboration with industry leading global organisations, who have all committed significant funding and resources to the programme to guarantee students receive a first-class technical education.

Trust partners are committed to supporting students in all UTCs that deliver the Digital Futures Programme across ALET: Amazon Web Services, ARK Data Centres (Crown Hosting Data Centres Limited), CBRE, CNet Training (CNet), CyrusOne, Digital Realty, LMG, Virtus Data Centres, and Yondr.

Individual UTC partners commit to supporting students in one ALET UTC: JLL, Kao Data, Soben and Vertiv.

With the right funding and support, this concept could be replicated across the world. It has already been hugely successful within the UK, not only being recognised with three global industry awards, but also extending the delivery of the programme to three further UTCs due to demand.

It’s great to be working together to encourage young people to join the amazing digital infrastructure industry and help to tackle the skills shortage.
