Industry and Career Insights

Career Opportunities Throughout the Digital Infrastructure Industry are Strong

The Digital Infrastructure Industry is all about data, how we use it, where we store it and how we connect everything together. With demand constantly increasing for more digital communications and broadband (WI-FI) connectivity, the industry is booming and there are many career opportunities.

The Digital Infrastructure Industry comprises the network cable infrastructure (copper and fibre optic cables) and the data centre (data storage, management and connectivity) sectors.

Everything relies on having the right network cable infrastructure in place, without this there would be no connectivity at all. This infrastructure, the copper and fibre optic cables, must be installed correctly to ensure the information can continue to flow.

The network cable infrastructure is also the backbone of every data centre, where information flow is essential to ensure all the communications and services can continue to be delivered. The data within each data centre also needs to be securely stored, managed and maintained, providing critical job roles that ensure the world can continue to operate as it does now.

Service Leavers are in Demand

There is a great deal of pride in our Armed Forces, industry leaders in all sectors recognise the values that service men and women demonstrate, particularly leadership, management skills, adaptability, technical capability and flexibility. Some industry leaders will employ service leaders above all others.

Companies throughout the network cabling installation and data centre sectors are also keen to employ certified individuals; indeed, the Certified Network Cable Installer (CNCI®) program and certification is often stated as a must-have within tender documentation for new builds and refurbishment projects across the UK, plus many of CNet’s program credentials are stated within job specifications across the world.
