Competency & Confidence Assessment Modelling (CCAM®)

The World’s First Competency & Confidence Assessment Modeling (CCAM®) Tool for the Digital Infrastructure Industry

Planning for the human factor is a crucial aspect of mitigating risk in the mission critical data centre facility. The Competency & Confidence Assessment Modeling (CCAM®) tool from CNet empowers organisations with the knowledge to maximise the potential of their workforce and proactively minimise the risk of human-related errors.

Why Use CCAM®?

Human risk affects every organisation. Although the types of threats they face will vary, many businesses struggle to accurately identify and counter risks effectively, and therefore leave themselves vulnerable to making costly and potentially reputation damaging mistakes.

Recognising the role human error plays in a significant number of expensive outages and downtime, CNet launched the world’s first Competency & Confidence Assessment Modeling (CCAM®) tool for the digital infrastructure industry, that revolutionises the way managers can identify, manage, and mitigate human-related risk across their teams.

What is CCAM®?

CCAM® is a complex and proven SaaS platform which is supported by a team of psychologists and behavioral experts and operates within International Test Commission guidelines. Through situational judgement and assessment criteria, the software is able to reveal exactly where each individual's skills, knowledge and capability gaps are, therefore pinpointing where the risks related to human error lie.

How Does CCAM® Work?

The CCAM® tool provides real-time analysis of knowledge, competence and confidence at individual and team level, exposing the root causes of employee behaviour (both positive and negative).

Situational judgement assessments categorise what each employee:

  • UNDERSTANDS
  • DOES NOT UNDERSTAND
  • MISUNDERSTANDS

These assessments also identify:

  • Each employee’s CONFIDENCE in what they think they understand
  • Which employees are going to apply what is RIGHT
  • Which employees are going to apply what is WRONG

Recognising that there is a difference between simply testing someone’s memory and knowing how they will behave under pressure in a mission critical environment, CCAM® adds a further layer to the assessment by capturing levels of competence and confidence in each answer. This provides further crucial insight that is also used towards scoping the recommended actions that are proven to reduce risk across mission critical facilities.

Comprehensive results are then provided, both at individual and team level, for maximum visibility of where the risks lie.

CCAM® Individual & Team Reports

CCAM® produces detailed yet easy to interpret reports for each individual, providing an overview of their achievement in each required area. The report delves into each subject area with further information, detailing the actual understanding level and confidence ratings, alongside a statement regarding direction and recommended next steps. Color coding is used to indicate levels of knowledge in each skill set, which also takes into account how competent and confident the individual in in each area, so managers can quickly and easily identify any immediate actions that are required to mitigate risk.

In addition, team reports can be created, allowing managers to understand the greatest areas of risk by seeing where the capability and skills gaps are across entire teams.

By providing the results on an individual and team basis, the appropriate interventions and professional development activities can be identified and recommended. These are aimed at enhancing knowledge and positively changing behaviour across the workforce, ultimately reducing the human-related risk in your mission critical facilities.

The recommendation is to retake the CCAM® tool assessment again post-development, which provides a good measure of success of the chosen interventions, therefore maximising the opportunity to measure not only risk reduction but also return on investment. The CCAM® tool can also be used as part of the recruitment process to inform and identify future training requirements.

“Ultimately risk is a human issue and businesses need people who are adept at tackling the threats they encounter, particularly within mission critical facilities. Understanding likely behaviours of individuals and teams in high risk environments is one of the biggest challenges a data centre facility faces today, but one that the CCAM® Tool addresses. It provides real-time analysis that allows managers to make the right decisions about their staff and teams to gain maximum productivity, ensure fitness to practice and mitigate people risk, all contributing to the businesses risk policy. The CCAM® Tool really does take the traditional Training Needs Analysis into a new and more justifiable dimension, and one that will help maximise competitive advantage, as productivity and quality of service will also improve”.
