Dish Construction/Assembly/Fixing
Dish construction & assembly, fixing configurations & bracketry to BSkyB standards.
Low Noise Block (LNB) & Cable
Understand the construction, functionality & purpose of the LNB, cable & the ability to fit ‘F’ & ‘Coax’ connectors required to BSkyB standards.
Dish Alignment & the Rover Meter
Principles & practicalities of satellite dish alignment techniques & the use of the Rover Digital Meter.
The Sky Box & Sky+
Describes the differences & similarities between the normal Sky Box & Sky+, the rear panel connections & how Sky+ does what it does.
Remote Control Unit (RCU)
Introduction to RCU (both standard & Sky+), learn by practicing how to use & programme the RCU to operate the customers’ TV.
Sky Guide & Interactive Services
Services menus for set up, accessing interactive services, providing an opportunity to learn, practice & navigate the whole Sky Guide.
Telephony
Telephone installation, the connections used & the safety issues.

Electrical Safety
Electricity at Work regulations. What Is Electricity? Different measures of electricity, demonstrate how it works inside the customers’ house. Hidden wiring/services; how the detector works.
PPE (Personal Protective Equipment)
Introduction to PPE, Legal requirements & standards, hard hat, goggles, safety footwear, gloves, ear defenders, high visibility vest, dust mask & daily checks.
Manual Handling
The Manual Handling Operations Regulations 1992, assessing a load, injuries, causes of injuries, basic lifting.
Practical Assessment Outside
Practical assessment of individual lifting & carrying of ladders.

Safe Working Procedures
Climbing, the 2-metre rule, definition of 2-meter rule, working from single/double section ladder (+2m), Triple ladder work with eyebolt & web strap. Clipping from triples. Set up & use Single section ladder below 2 metres, Set up & use Single/double ladder above 2 metres while carrying drill on shoulder.
Risk Assessment
