Sky Satellite Health & Safety (BSkyB Accredited) Course Overview

Gain the health & safety knowledge associated with becoming an accredited Sky Satellite TV Installer. Students will gain an understanding of Sky health & safety policies, including installation of ladders practices to the current Sky market standard. This one-week course can also be combined with the one week Sky Satellite TV Installation course where students gain a comprehensive
overview of Sky history from inspection to current market standing, including the knowledge and understanding of the relation between a geostationary orbit to satellite TV reception.

Manual Handling

Practical Assessment Outside
Practical assessment by individually lifting & carrying ladders
Health & Safety Ladder Work
Equipment Inspection, Ladder Safety, ladder accidents & ladder placement, Identification & safe operation of equipment
Safe Working Procedures
Climbing, the 2 metre rule, definition of 2 meter rule, Working from single/double section ladder (+2m), Triple ladder work with eyebolt & web strap. Clipping from triples. Set up & use Single section ladder below 2 metres, Set up & use Single/double ladder above 2 metres while carrying drill on shoulder
Risk Assessment
Definitions within risk assessment Hazard, Harm & risk, Stages of risk assessment, Hazard awareness
Pitched Roof Working
Fall arrest/protective system, equipment required & cat ladders, Procedures for accessing, working & descending from a pitched roof. Equipment required, guidelines when installing on chimneys & planning permission
Flat Roof Work
Review of safety equipment stating that 2 eyebolts will be required for this procedure, Safe working area emphasising the 2 metre rule & pendulum effect, procedure to gain access & work from a flat roof
