Sky Satellite TV Installation (BSkyB Accredited) Course Overview
Become an accredited Sky Installer and gain two City & Guilds certifications. Benefit from a comprehensive overview of Sky history, from inspection to current market standing, including the knowledge and understanding of the relation between geostationary orbits and satellite TV reception. Students will gain an insight and understanding of Sky Health & Safety policies alongside the installation of ladder practices to current Sky standards.
WEEK 1
Digital satellite installation principles
Satellite transmission & reception principles, radio frequency, high/low band, polarity & RF bands.
Dish Construction/Assembly/Fixing
Dish construction & assembly, fixing configurations & bracketry to BSkyB standards.
Low Noise Block (LNB) & Cable
Understand the construction, functionality & purpose of the LNB, cable & the ability to fit ‘F’ & ‘Coax’ connectors required to BSkyB standards.
Dish Alignment & the Rover Meter
Principles & practicalities of satellite dish alignment techniques & the use of the Rover Digital Meter.
The Sky Box & Sky+
Describes the differences & similarities between the normal Sky Box & Sky+, the rear panel connections & how Sky+ does what it does.
Remote Control Unit (RCU)
Introduction to RCU (both standard & Sky+), learn by practicing how to use & programme the RCU to operate the customers’ TV.
Sky Guide & Interactive Services
Services menus for set up, accessing interactive services, providing an opportunity to learn, practice & navigate the whole Sky Guide.
Telephony
Telephone installation, the connections used & the safety issues.
Connectivity
Connecting Sky equipment to existing customer systems, connecting all RF & Scart leads in a live environment.
Sky Viewing Card Installation Scenarios
Sky Card initialisation procedures & corresponding installation scenario.
